Move It or Lose It

It’s true. The more you sit the less you move – and the more vulnerable you become to health problems. According to a new study from Northwestern University, sitting for an extended time causes your muscles to burn less fat and your blood to flow more sluggishly. When you slump in your chair, your back and stomach muscles go unused as well. To prevent risk of disability, simply move more. Get up and walk around the office. Stand when you talk on the phone. Take a 10-minute walk or stretch break. Park at the far end of the lot. Spreading physical activity throughout the day is like putting money in the bank – and the dividends are more than worth the effort!
