Registration is Now Open for 2013 NW Florida Artificial Reef Workshop

February 19 – 20, 2013 in Niceville, Florida.


Northwest Florida’s Artificial Reef Workshop, the first since 2006, will be held February

19 – 20, 2013 at the Niceville Community Center. The public is invited to attend all sessions of the 1.5 day workshop. Registration fee is $40.00, which includes meals and refreshments.


Sessions and guest speakers will provide the latest information regarding Reef Designs, Artificial Reefs and Fisheries Management, Monitoring Tools, Goals, and Strategies, Artificial Reef Construction Issues in Inshore and Nearshore State Waters, The Economic Benefits and Impacts of Artificial Reefs in NW Florida, and other artificial reef topics of local interest.


A free evening event, the Northwest Florida Artificial Reef Expo will take place Tuesday evening, February 19, 2013 from 6-8 pm. The expo will feature informational booths on artificial reefs.  Representatives from local artificial reef associations such as the Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary, Mexico Beach and Emerald Coast Artificial Reef Associations will highlight their monitoring and reef construction activities. Florida Fish and Wildlife and Florida Sea Grant Extension will have representatives to provide the public with artificial reef resources.


Additionally, vendors, county artificial reef coordinators, and private individuals will share innovations in reef construction and monitoring.
