The Santa Rosa County 4-H program offers several camping opportunities for youth. We have both local day camps as well as overnight (residential) camps. Many of our overnight camps take place at the Timpoochee 4-H Center in Niceville, FL. Other overnight events, such as Legislature and Congress, take place on college campuses.

Camp Timpoochee (June 5-9, 2017)

This week-long residential camp is held annually at 4-H Camp TImpoochee on the Chocwhathatchee Bay, 8 miles east of Niceville, FL.  Typical camp activities include: swimming, canoeing, kayaking, nature hikes, team building, crafts, fishing, marine explorations, and snorkeling.  This camp is for youth ages 8 -12.  Older teens (13 -14 years old) may be counselors-in training, and teens 15 and older may serve as counselors upon completion of counselor training.  Cost (including all meals, canteen snacks, t-shirt, and transportation) is $250.00.  The cost of camp for those who qualify for free/reduced lunches is $220.00. Summer Food Service Form

Return registration forms to Jasmin at the extension office after completion. all checks are made payable to SRC 4-H. fees for camp is $230 with your own transportation and $250 with transportation from the Extension Office to camp. An extra $20 is need for any non-4-H members. Discounts exist if you qualify for the Summer food program or any scholarships. ALL FEES & REGISTRATIONS ARE DUE BY MAY 19th.

Counselors and Counselors in Training (CITs) need to contact Jasmin ASAP for training dates and requirements. These are youth    4-H ages 13-18.

4-H Legislature | June 26 – June 30 | Tallahassee, FL

4-H Legislature is a state 4-H event open to all 4-H seniors ages 13 to 18. This is a week-long overnight camp in Tallahassee, Florida, where 4-H will take over the capitol building and have a mock legislature. The youth will sit in the House and the Senate and act us our congressmen for a whole week lobbying, debating and passing bills. This is a great learning opportunity as well as a fun experience for our youth. The cost is $235 and includes travel. An additional $50 will be needed for lunches during the week.

Southern Region Leader’s Forum

The Southern Region Leader’s Forum is designed to provide a range of interesting and useful learning experiences which are applicable to “back-home” 4-H goals and objectives. Adult Volunteers will have the opportunity to share ideas that have worked for them, gain knowledge and skills in working with youth, increase ability in organizing and motivating 4-H leaders, and encourage teamwork in Program Development.
